AutoCAD non stampa

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Cannot-print-transparent-objects-with-HP-plotters.html

in AutoCAD Architecture 2012 ci sono problemi per stampare con le trasparenze: il driver è incompatibile e/o manca la RAM al plotter, il processo di rasterizzazione del file sul plotter fallisce.

Cannot print transparent objects with HP plotters

Oct 31, 2014

Issue:

When trying to plot a drawing in Autodesk® AutoCAD® (or any vertical application such as Autodesk® AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2014) containing objects with transparency or layers with transparency on a HP plotter, the plot process does not start nor you receive an error message.

Causes:

The issue could be caused by the large size of the drawing and not enough Plotter memory.
Even though if only a small part of the drawing is set to transparent the transparency will be processed for the whole plot area consuming a large amount of memory.

Solution:

In order to solve this issue make sure that following steps are done:

  • Update to the latest plotter drivers available on the manufacturer website or install the generic drivers
  • In the Printer Properties (Windows Start -> Devices and Printers) open the Advanced Tab and bypass the printer spooler with selecting the Option “Print directly to the printer
  • Recreate the .pc3 file related to this plotter and print with reduced resolution (DPI)
  • As a workaround create a PDF of the DWG first and then plot the PDF

in mancanza di soluzioni migliori, bisogna passare per il formato PDF o per il DWF e poi plottare.

Plotting with transparency means that AutoCAD can’t send vectors to the plotter, AutoCAD has first to render to a raster-image and after that is finished AutoCAD sends the raster-image to the printer.
To do that AutoCAD needs more memory on the local workstation and it needs more memory on the printer, either of those is the reason why it fails. One option might be possible to reduce the memory requirement is to reduce the resolution within the printer-/plotter driver, so if you have the option e.g. to reduce the resolution from let’s say 600dpi to 300dpi the memory needed would go down by 75%.

Depends also from compression and color-depth (and maybe alpha channel) that is used for creating/transferring the raster information.

I would try to
a) search for other drivers, if that does not help then
b) you might use the workaround for plotting including transparency to print to DWF and then from DWF to the printer (PDF is also possible, but I do prefer DWF).

Per stampare un DWF conviene utilizzare il software gratuito Autodesk Design Review.

Transparency was one of the most popular requests from customers to be able to do in ACAD over the years—and it was not introduced into the product for many years because of the printing slowdown issues.

Information from the engineers very often was that we had spent a lot of work optimizing our files to print as vector files—and that vector will print a lot faster than Raster plots. When we use transparency in a drawing, the whole drawing is turned into a raster plot—even though the stored file is not that much bigger.

During the most recent design cycle, our development team did a lot to improve the raster printing speeds and memory issues—but it was still a lot slower than vector printing.

Because of the slowness, we had to add the ability to turn off transparency for printing for drawings if it was necessary—the transparency would still show up on screen, but not when printing.

Try unchecking ‘Plot Transparency’ in the plot dialog.
